When God Says No – Discovering the God of Hope Behind the Answer We’d Rather Not Hear

$3.00

When our prayers are good and reasonable, there seems to be no reason why a good God wouldn’t grant what we ask. But even to the greatest saints God sometimes says no. Yet when God doesn’t answer prayer the way we expect, our pained disappointment with God can cause faith itself to collapse. With warmth and wisdom, Anderson probes prayer’s toughest mysteries in When God Says No.

Over the years I’ve read many, many books on prayer. This book is probably one of the most honest that I have ever read. Anderson candidly deals with the reality of our faith – oftentimes our loving God does not answer our prayers and sometimes He even says, “No.” In a world that is looking for a “Grandfather God” that will meet our every selfish whim and desire, this book is wonderfully refreshing and thought provoking.

His chapter “Can Prayer Ever Be Bad for us?” is probably worth the price of the book. He also does an excellent job of dealing with the problem of two committed believers praying about the same concern but praying for opposite outcomes to the same situation. Anderson has the courage to seek to respond to the tough questions related to prayer, the ones that we rarely talk about or even preach about. He is to be commended for having the courage to say and discuss what most believers have experienced. He’s very honest in that when it comes to prayer, we have to trust. Ours is a mysterious and awesome God. If He could be put in a box . . . He wouldn’t be God. This book has real potential for a series and will probably answer some of your people’s questions that they did not think anyone else had or they were too afraid to admit to someone.
